May the peace of Christ reign in your hearts…

The words of scripture above and at the end of the blog come from Colossians in today’s Breviary.  Something to think about as we’ve just celebrated the Feast of All Saints on Monday and the Feast of All Souls on Tuesday.

Last night, perhaps 70-people attended the Mass of Remembrance. At the Intercessions, the names of 51-people who died in the last year were read out one by one.  A candle was lit in memory of each as music played.  And the choir would sing every few names: We speak your name, we remember.  We light a flame, we remember.

Much to think of.  Yesterday I read an article by Franciscan Jim Van Vurst called The Hour of Our Death. Among the comforting words: “We know that God is with us, his children, at that moment. And Jesus assures us that death is also a time of God’s great grace.”

…because it is for this that you were called together as parts of one body.  Always be thankful.  Colossians 3:15 Jerusalem Bible.

Peace,
