Lent Syracuse Diocese 2021

Lent 2021 calendar

  • Tuesdays until March 23: The Search weekly video series begins. Sessions via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Learn more here.
  • Fridays, Feb. 19-April 2: Stations of the Cross – In the church. Pre-registration not needed; sign the attendance sheet in the vestibule. COVID protocols remain in place.
  • Fridays, beginning Feb. 26: Faith Talks, small group faith-sharing via Zoom from 10-11 a.m. Learn more here.
  • March 3, 10, 17, 24: Theology on Tap sessions for young adults at Coppertop Tavern in Vestal. Learn more here.
  • March 27 & 28: Palm Sunday Masses at 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Palms will be distributed at both Masses.
  • March 29: The Light is On from 4-7 p.m. for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  • April 1: Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7 p.m.
  • April 2: Good Friday Service, 3-4 p.m.
  • April 3: Blessing of Easter Foods, noon.
  • April 3: Easter Vigil Mass, 8 p.m.
  • April 4: Easter Sunday Mass, 10 a.m.

Lenten practices FAQ

Fasting
Ages: 18-59
Days: Ash Wednesday & Good Friday
How to: Eat one regular size meal, two smaller meals that when combined are smaller than the regular meal.

Abstaining
Ages: 14 and over
Days: Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and ALL Fridays in Lent
How to: Do not eat meat on these days. (Foods such as dairy products, gelatin and eggs are allowed.)
