Paying tribute to our Mothers

On last week's episode of His Way @ Home, Gretchen and Tori encouraged us to create tablescape tributes in honor of our mothers. Here are some examples of the tributes that were created:

Marilee Beyer tribute

Marilee Beyer - "This week’s Mother's Day theme was great. I borrowed your idea and created a tribute to Marty’s and my Mom and grandmothers all who are in heaven. I have a story to share. Marty’s mom died at age 101 and lived at home until the last six months in a nursing home after a fall. She was a convert to Catholicism and had great devotion to the Blessed Mother. When she was in the nursing home, she would be interrupted when saying her rosary. She got in the habit of using a clothespin to save her place. As I put her Rosary by her picture today, I added the clothespin. That alone brought Marty to tears as he was so touched. It is the little things that our Mom’s and Grandmothers did that hold special places in our hearts. Before I added all the pictures and mementos to my hunt board in the foyer, I had the flowers and rosaries in front of my statue of Mary to honor May as Mary’s month. You can see what I added in honor of Mother's Day in the attached picture."

Mary Hallman tribute

Mary Hallman - "While this is a great idea for Mother's Day, it's also something you can do any time of the year! I created one for my mom (picture above) and then I walked her through the elements I chose, all while keeping a 2300 mile social distance - she's in California!
"Here's what I chose, and why:

♥   Outdoor flowers: she has a beautiful yard, which she always plants with perennials

♥   Checkbook: she is always very generous with all of us

♥   Passport: she loves to travel, and has visited many far-away lands

♥   Statue of Mary: she has a particular devotion to our Blessed Mother

♥   Rosary: she gave me the pictured rosary

♥   Wine/wine glass: she loves her wine!

♥   Picture: My Mom as a little girl, with her brother Jim and cousins

"My mom was moved by the tribute. Her reaction highlights the importance of honoring the people that we love, in real and tangible ways. Now is the time; don't wait!"
